Terms of Use

By using Mendum you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app. This document is the agreement between you and the service provider identified in the imprint below.

1. The service

Mendum is a study app that analyzes photos of questions you answered incorrectly, classifies the likely cause of the mistake, generates step-by-step solutions, and creates similar questions for you to practice with.

2. About AI output — important notice

The analyses, mistake-cause classifications, solutions and practice questions Mendum produces are generated automatically by artificial intelligence.

• This output may be wrong, incomplete or misleading.
• Mendum is not a substitute for a teacher, an institution or an official source.
• We make no guarantee regarding your exam results, grades or academic performance.
• It is your responsibility to verify generated solutions against your own knowledge and course materials.
• Learning-objective and curriculum mappings are approximate; the official curriculum text prevails.

3. Your account

• You must provide accurate and current information when creating an account.
• You are responsible for the security of your account and credentials.
• One person uses one account; you may not share your account with others.
• If you are under 13 you may not create an account. If you are between 13 and 18 you may use the app with the consent of your parent or legal guardian.
• You may delete your account from inside the app at any time.

4. Content you upload

The question photos you upload belong to you; we do not claim ownership. By uploading, you grant only the permission needed for us to provide the service to you (analyze the image, generate a solution, store it in your notebook).

You agree not to upload:

• Images containing another person’s personal information (for example a paper with another student’s name on it)
• Material you reproduce and distribute without permission in a way that infringes copyright
• Images unrelated to questions and study content
• Unlawful, obscene, hateful or violent content

If we detect content that breaches these rules we may remove it, and suspend your account for repeated violations.

5. Plans and usage allowances

5.1 Free plan (Notebook)

The free plan includes 8 AI operations per day. Saving one mistake typically consumes 2 operations (analysis + solution); questions containing figures or requiring a retry may consume more. The allowance renews daily (based on UTC).

5.2 Trial period

New accounts receive 21 days of Smartbook features free of charge. No credit card or payment information is required for the trial, and no automatic charge occurs when it ends. When the period expires your account reverts to the free plan.

5.3 Smartbook subscription

Smartbook offers studying without a daily practice limit, personalized practice-question generation, the improvement loop and review engine, AP FRQ scoring, and priority processing.

Fair use: “No daily limit” does not mean unlimited system resources. To prevent abuse and automated bulk requests, a technical ceiling of 300 AI operations per day per account applies. This ceiling is far above what normal individual study can reach; we state it here explicitly for transparency.

6. Subscription, payment and cancellation

• Smartbook subscriptions are purchased through the App Store. The seller and invoicing party is Apple Distribution International Ltd.; Apple processes the payment and we do not have access to your payment details.
• The current price is shown on the purchase screen in your local currency, based on your device’s country.
• Subscriptions renew automatically. Unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, your account is charged automatically at the end of that period.
• To cancel, on your iPhone go to Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions. After cancelling, Smartbook features remain active until the end of the period you paid for.
• Refund requests go to Apple. Apple’s refund policy applies and Apple makes the decision.
• Apple notifies you in advance of price changes and asks for your confirmation where required.
• Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. These are two separate actions.

7. Usage restrictions

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or circumvent the security measures of the app
• Send bulk requests via automated tools (bots, scripts) or attempt to exceed usage allowances
• Resell or redistribute the service or generated content commercially
• Attempt to access another user’s account
• Knowingly submit incorrect or misleading content to the shared question cache

8. Intellectual property

The app itself, its design, brand and software belong to the service provider. Your right to use the app is a personal, non-transferable licence.

9. Service availability

We aim to provide the service without interruption but do not guarantee it. Maintenance, infrastructure failures, third-party service outages or force majeure may cause temporary downtime. We may change, add or remove features; if we materially restrict a paid feature we will announce it in advance.

10. Limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• No warranty is given as to the accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose of AI output.
• We are not liable for indirect damages relating to exam results, grades or academic performance.
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event.

Your statutory consumer rights that cannot be limited by contract remain unaffected.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, misuse the service, or upload unlawful content. We will warn you first where possible; serious breaches may result in immediate termination.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. We will notify you of material changes inside the app and ask for renewed acceptance where necessary. Continuing to use the app after notification means you accept the new terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Turkish law. The courts and enforcement offices of the Republic of Türkiye have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, your right to apply to consumer arbitration committees and consumer courts is reserved.
